Podcaster  Joe Rogan has questioned the official narrative surrounding the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, whose death earlier this month shocked U.S. politics. Speaking on a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan described elements of the investigation as “horses–t” and suggested there may be details about the case that remain unclear.
Kirk, a prominent Trump ally, was fatally shot in the neck on September 10 while addressing nearly 3,000 people at Utah Valley University during his American Comeback Tour. Authorities say the suspected gunman, Tyler Robinson, used a World War I-era Mauser Model 98 rifle in the attack. Prosecutors have charged Robinson with aggravated murder and are seeking the death penalty.
On his program, Rogan pointed to what he called “weird” aspects of the case—including the use of an antique rifle, the possibility of a decoy, and whether Robinson was “even the guy.” He speculated, without evidence, that Robinson could be a “patsy,” and questioned how the rifle could have been disassembled and smuggled into the area.
Prosecutors, however, have presented evidence challenging those claims. Investigators say surveillance footage captured Robinson lying prone on a university rooftop before fleeing, and that DNA matching Robinson was found on the rifle’s trigger. Court filings also cite digital messages in which Robinson referred to the weapon as “grandpa’s gun.” The rifle, which predates federal serial number requirements, was reportedly inherited from his grandfather.
Authorities also addressed the so-called “decoy” cited by Rogan. Officials confirmed that 71-year-old George Zinn briefly confessed to the crime before being charged with obstruction and unrelated child-pornography offenses.
Rogan’s remarks have fueled speculation online and reignited debate over how the assassination is being investigated. The comments also reflect broader distrust of official accounts in an era of heightened political polarization.
